Liverpool considered a move last summer for Borussia Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro – according to Melissa Reddy of the Independent. The report claims the club were looking to bring in the Portuguese international in the hope he could provide cover for Andrew Robertson at left-back.
It goes on to say that the 26-year-old would have cost the Reds in the region of £17m and a wage of £60,000 per week but after much deliberation, it was decided it would not be ‘the best use of money’.
Would you like to see the club move for Guerreiro?
Yes
No
James Milner has shown in the past that he’s capable of deputising in the full-back position, while the report also claims the club are monitoring the development of Yasser Larouci.
Here’s how the fans have reacted to the news:
This would be a wonderful signing. He’s a top left-back and can also play in midfield.

Guerreiro for £17M is a bargain.

feel like 17 mil would’ve been worth it for him

That’s a poor call for me 17m & 60k wages for a good squad LB is a good deal especially in today’s game Robbo needs a backup plain and simple

17M for a player who can covee both LB and LW is a steal imo

Larouci can’t defend

What do we think?
Raphael Guerreiro is currently worth £22.5m according to Transfermarkt.co.uk, so the £17m price Liverpool considered paying in the summer seems to have been a reasonable amount. Capable of playing at both left-back and left-midfield, he’s made 104 appearances for the Bundesliga giants since signing from Lorient for £10.8m and if he were to eventually end up at Anfield, his versatility could make him a good addition to the squad.
