The Athletic’s James Pearce has named West Ham United’s Aaron Cresswell as a potential back-up option for Andrew Robertson at left-back. The Reds defeated the Irons at Anfield on Monday night and speaking in his post-match Q&A, Pearce suggested the Anfield club might be interested in signing the 30-year-old as a squad player should David Moyes’ side be relegated.
It’s important to note that Pearce didn’t claim the club were exploring the possibility of the move, or that any talks were underway, just that if West Ham were to be relegated, he’s one player he personally believes could add something to the current squad.

What do we think?
Aaron Cresswell joined the Londoners from Ipswich Town in 2014 and has made 178 Premier League appearances since. At 30 years old, however, there will be some who will argue Liverpool would be better served by somebody younger. The left-back’s average performance rating this season currently sits at 6.6/10 (via WhoScored.com). In our view, this would only be a worthwhile investment if Jurgen Klopp is able to capture the defender in a cut-price deal.
