Fans of Liverpool have been reacting to a post on Twitter which discusses whether the club should make a move for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish this summer.

Grealish, who is an academy product of Villa’s, has been in remarkable form this season, scoring seven goals and providing six assists in his 24 league appearances.

Due to his impressive performances, interest in the 24-year-old has been high, with Manchester United among those thought to be keen on acquiring his services this summer.

However, it has been recently reported that Grealish’s former teammate Gabriel Agbonlahor has informed the Villa captain he could do better than United, stating: “For where Manchester United are now, he could go to better teams around the world, so he doesn’t need to limit himself to just United and focus on teams who are playing in the Champions League.”

He continued: “He is the missing piece that a lot of teams need right now. I watch Liverpool, and they are an outstanding team, but they are missing a player like him.”

In reaction to the news, Liverpool fans have been discussing a potential summer move for the midfielder, with many stating their belief that Grealish is not good enough for their side.

What do we think?

It is difficult to argue, as some Liverpool fans have, that Grealish is indeed overrated.

The Birmingham-born midfielder has averaged an incredible 7.34 WhoScored match rating this season. Of players who have appeared more than 13 times in the league this season, WhoScored ranks him as the seventh-best performer in the Premier League, placing him above the likes of Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk (9th) and Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi (8th), as well as potential England rival James Maddison (10th).

Whether or not Klopp will make a move for the £31.5 million-rated man this summer is uncertain. However, if Aston Villa fail in their attempts to avoid relegation, it is difficult to see them holding on to one of England’s brightest prospects.
