Fans of Liverpool have been reacting to Timo Werner’s tweet, in which the German striker posted a picture of his celebration during RB Leipzig’s Champions League victory over Tottenham.
Werner, who joined Leipzig from VfB Stuttgart in 2016, has been in incredible form for the club this season, scoring 20 goals in 22 games in the Bundesliga, as well as four in seven in the Champions League.
Due to his fine form, interest in the German has been high, with Sport Bild reporting that Jurgen Klopp is interested in the striker, who would be available if his release clause of around €60 million (£50.2m) is met.
Werner himself then added fuel to the fire, when, in his post-match comments following the Tottenham game, he stated: “Liverpool are the best team in the world at the moment, and when you’re linked with that team, it makes me very proud.”
The rumours have delighted Liverpool fans, with many flocking to Twitter to call for their club to sign the 23-year-old.
