Liverpool starlet Curtis Jones has been showcasing his talents once again for the club’s Under-23s. The 19-year-old scored an eight-minute hat-trick during the game against Sunderland in the Premier League Cup on Monday, prompting discussions amongst some of the supporters regarding whether or not he’s outgrown that level and should be given more opportunities in the first team.

Here’s what some of the fans had to say having seen the footage of his goals on Twitter.

Is Curtis Jones ready to play for the first team?

No

Interestingly, Curtis Jones has been compared to former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho in the past, so you can understand the fan drawing the comparison.

What do we think?

Curtis Jones has scored nine goals and provided five assists in just 14 appearances in the Premier League 2 this season. Based on those statistics alone, in our view, there is an argument to suggest he has outgrown that level but whether or not he is ready to play in Jurgen Klopp’s side remains to be seen.

The Liverpool-born midfielder has played a total of 19 minutes of Premier League football this season, as well as having made five appearances in the two senior domestic cup competitions. Perhaps, if Liverpool are to win the league title with plenty of matches to spare, we will see Jones given more opportunities to show what he can do on the Premier League stage.
