Everton’s Under-23s scored a dramatic late winner to defeat Derby County in the Premier League 2 at Goodison Park on Monday night. The visitors equalised through Cameron Cresswell after Manasse Mampala put the Toffees in front. However, deep into stoppage time, Ellis Simms raced through to slot the ball home past Henrich Ravas in the County goal.

Simms has made 13 appearances in the Premier League 2 this season and scored his eighth goal of the campaign following his latest strike. The 19-year-old has previously been called up to England’s Under-18 side and judging by some of these replies, he’s making quite the name for himself.

Is Ellis Simms ready to feature for the first-team?

What do we think?

Ellis Simms has been compared in the replies to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who is three years his senior and has significantly improved this season. The 22-year-old scored six Premier League goals throughout the whole of the last campaign and he’s already managed 11 in the league this time around.

Six of those goals have come under the management of Carlo Ancelotti and therefore, whilst we believe Ellis Simms will be on the Italian’s radar, in our view, he will continue to persist with Calvert-Lewin for the remainder of the season.
