Crystal Palace beat Newcastle United 1-0 at the weekend after Patrick van Aanholt lasered a free-kick into the back of the net right before the stroke of half time. The win ends the side’s eight-game losing streak, which will be a relief to the fans, the players and Roy Hodgson.
But while the Dutch left-back’s set-piece was enough to win the Eagles all three points, Hodgson’s men could have had a few more goals if not for Newcastle’s Martin Dubravka.
The goalkeeper made an incredible eight saves during the match, earning an 7.96/10 WhoScored rating.
After the match, Crystal Palace’s Gary Cahill applauded Dubravka on Twitter for his display. The Slovak denied Cahill a brilliant headed goal during the match. Cahill included images showcasing the moment in his tweet.
Fans responded to the message by applauding Dubravka for his heroics. Others admit that Cahill is bound to score sooner rather than later.

Who is having a better season?
Martin Dubravka
Vicente Guaita
Another fan admits that not many goalkeepers would have made that save. Well, aside from Palace’s Vicente Guaita, that is.
Not many keepers would have saved that, except @vguaita13

What do we think?
The save itself was a thing of beauty. Cahill will feel slightly aggrieved that he was denied such a brilliant header. However, at the end of the day, he will be happy with his team’s result.
