With Christian Benteke only scoring one goal in 19 appearances so far this season, Crystal Palace fans will almost certainly be hoping to see someone else pop up with some goals heading into the latter stages of the season.
Benteke’s scoring record becomes even harder to take when you look at the success Alexander Sorloth is having while playing on loan for Trabzonspor right now. The player has scored 24 goals across 34 appearances so far this season. In his 22 league games, he has scored 19 times.
His incredible success with Trabzonspor has turned the heads of some of Europe’s elite.
According to Asistanaliz, via Turkish Football, Real Madrid have enquired about bringing the Norwegian to the Spanish capital. However, while the player is still technically owned by Crystal Palace, they may not be able to make a blockbuster profit on the player.
Trabzonspor have a €6 million (£5 million) option to buy in the summer, and Palace have no option to recall. Should he go for a big fee this summer, the majority of the money could go to Trabzonspor.
When this news was shared by CPFC News HQ on Twitter, fans were in disbelief. According to their tweet, Trabzonspor are looking to cash in on striker for €50 million (£41.7 million).
Imagine if this actually happened, it’d somehow be hilarious and soul crushing at the same time

If this actually happens, it will top the Banter Era thread forever.
It can be closed for business until I shuffle off this mortal coil. https://t.co/nDjoZWIePT

Is Sorloth worth the rumoured €50 million?
Yes - great prospect
No - not there yet
What do we think?
If Sorloth does make the move to Real Madrid for big bucks and Trabzonspor score a majority of the profit, it could be seen as a massive failure on behalf of the Crystal Palace transfer team.
