Middlesbrough boss Jonathan Woodgate has told the press he isn’t feeling “sorry for himself” despite the club currently occupying a very precarious position in the Championship (via Teesside Live). Heading into their game versus Leeds United on Wednesday night, Boro sit just three points above the drop-zone in 21st place.
So far, it’s been a season to forget for the Teessiders who have won just eight of their 34 league games and having failed to improve, they now find themselves firmly in the relegation battle.
Should Woodgate be sacked immediately?
Yes
No
Following Woodgate’s comments, here’s what some of the supporters had to say regarding his management.
It’s bad, because we’d all like him to succeed, but he’s useless

Lack of self awareness is astonishing. Every time the Gazette sit down with him for a cosy fireside chat he dictates the narrative but this one actually sounds like he’s trying to convince himself! I can imagine him stood looking in a mirror on the morning repeating those words!

“Just because the last two games we didn’t play well”
As well as being clueless, he’s got a short memory. 2 games? Give it a rest.

He gets more annoying by the day.

At all the games that Boro have lost, having our fans behind them meant absolutely nothing. Why now?
And why no mention of Keane? Has brought zero to the table. We’d struggle to score in a you-know-what.
Fantastic club? Badly run club for quite some time.— Alan (@huntyhouse) February 26, 2020
If hes in charge next season dont expect things to improve. Hes beyond terrible

What do we think?
Based on the above responses, we would assume that many of the Boro fans have lost faith in Woodgate and his methods. It seems that some have also become irritated by him as the fear of relegation looms large over the Riverside. Recent defeats at the hands of fellow relegation candidates Barnsley and Luton Town, can hardly have done the former England international any favours in terms of retaining the support of the fans.
