Danny Mills has told Football Insider that he thinks Marcelo Bielsa is seriously considering the future of Kiko Casilla.

Mills believes that Bielsa has a difficult decision to make in regards to his goalkeeper.

Despite Marcelo Bielsa stating that Casilla will play against Bristol City.

Do you agree with Mills on Casilla?

Yes, give him time

Yes, give him time

No, he has no idea

No, he has no idea

The former Leeds defender thinks that this latest error will be making the Argentine consider the future of Casilla.

Mills, though, does not think that now is the right time to make a change because his mistake against Brentford had nothing to do with Casilla’s ability, and it was more of a concentration thing.

The 42-year-old also thinks that Casilla is integral to the way the Whites play, and he does not know how good Illan Meslier is, so for now, Mills would keep Casilla in goal.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Look at it seriously, it’s not the first error in recent weeks, I’m pretty sure Marcelo Bielsa will be thinking what is the right thing to do.

“Is now the right time to make a change, give another goalkeeper the opportunity? It’s not a technical error (v Brentford), it’s a concentration mistake, it’s not about his ability or anything like that. There’s been one or two things creeping in but it’s always a big decision to drop your goalkeeper.

“He is pretty integral to the way that they play, playing out from the back, it’s not ideal at the moment. The backup, we don’t really know too much about and whether he’s going to be good enough.”

What do we think?

Mills might think that keeping Casilla in is the best thing, but a quick look at the statistics reveals that since Leeds drew 3-3 with Cardiff City, the Spaniard has a save percentage of 47.7% and has made five errors that have led to goals.

How can this be deemed acceptable?

Of course, Casilla is the subject of a charge from the FA for using racist language towards Jonathan Leko in an incident that happened during the Whites’ 1-0 defeat to Charlton Athletic.

The Spaniard was charged in November, but nothing has happened since; however, next week, he will have his hearing, and the whole situation can be cleared up.

If he is found guilty, then he will be banned for six games, and if he is found not guilty, then hopefully, he can carry on get back to his pre-Cardiff form.
