Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Leeds United are preparing to welcome back Adam Forshaw to the side for next summer’s pre-season training, according to The Athletic’s Phil Hay.

The club confirmed that the 28-year-old’s season is over, and he has travelled to the US to undergo surgery to fix an ongoing hip problem.

Do you want Forshaw still at the club this summer?

The statement said that Forshaw and the club’s medical team tried everything they could to avoid surgery, but the decision has been made that the former Middlesbrough man needed to go under the knife to fix this issue.

This means that Forshaw will not be able to help in the Whites’ hunt for promotion, and when he does return, he just has to hope that he will be preparing for a season in the Premier League and not the Championship.

What do we think?

The former Brentford midfielder managed to make just eight appearances this year and has not featured for the Whites since they lost 1-0 to Charlton Athletic in September.

At first, this injury was hard to diagnose and was expected to be complicated.

However, it is unlikely that anyone thought it would end his season.

This is a shame as last season, he emerged as an important part of Bielsa’s side, but this injury has robbed the Argentine of Forshaw’s services.

To be fair to Leeds, they have dealt with his absence rather well and currently sit in second place and head into the final 14 games of the season knowing their future is entirely in their own hands.

Forshaw should be back for the Whites in July, but which league will he be preparing for?
