These West Brom fans have been discussing whether the club should chase down Charlton’s Lyle Taylor this January.

Lyle Taylor was originally linked to West Brom by Sky Sports: “A handful of Championship clubs, including Swansea, West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield Wednesday are interested in acquiring his services.” However, this was later relayed to these West Brom fans via WBA Latest.

The tweet from WBA Latest also mentions Taylor’s contract issues, which was reported by London News Online: “East Street Investments have withdrawn their contract offer to Lyle Taylor – and are set to consider any bids they receive for the Charlton Athletic striker in this month’s transfer window.”

The 29-year-old has moved around a lot in his footballing career, playing for Milwall, Eastbourne, Concord Rangers, Lewes, Hereford, Woking and Bournemouth in his earlier part of his career.

Taylor was then moved on from Bournemouth on a free transfer to Falkirk in July 2012. However, another club was on the horizon in July 2013 when the 29-year-old joined Sheffield United for £225k.

After a few more moves, the Montserrat international ended up at AFC Wimbledon, who later let Taylor go to his current club Charlton on a free transfer in July 2018.

Here is what the West Brom fans have had to say about the Baggies being rumoured to be interested in Lyle Taylor:

Would you like West Brom to sign Lyle Taylor?

No

So far this season, Lyle Taylor has scored seven goals in 13 Championship appearances for Charlton, also only nine of his outings were starts.

Taylor is currently averaging two shots per game, however, 1.3 of them have been taken inside the penalty area each match.

The fans are a bit of a 50/50 split, with some of them keen on getting him and others concerned over the 29-year-old’s age.

What Do We Think?

We cannot really see why West Brom would need to sign Lyle Taylor? With the striker being 29-years-old and Charlie Austin on fire this season, already scoring seven goals in his 19 outings.

We would avoid this deal, as much as we feel sorry for Taylor rarely having a club to call home, but maybe the 29-year-old should stay at Charlton instead of moving again.
