Sheffield Wednesday: Some Owls fans react to latest FA Cup draw

|

Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have made it clear that they’re not too impressed with the draw against Queens Park Rangers that they have been handed in the FA Cup recently.

The Owls were drawn against fellow Championship side QPR, but they will face them away from home on the 25th of January later this month in the fourth round of the competition.

The draw took place days after Wednesday had managed to beat Brighton and Hove Albion in the third round. An Adam Reach goal in the second-half was enough for them to pick up the upset win.

SWFC fans: Are you happy with the draw against QPR?

Delighted, can't expect much better

Disappointed, wanted a better side

But some Wednesday fans aren’t too pleased with the draw after the club announced it on Twitter. They expected more from it.

Garry Monk’s men have already lost to QPR in the Championship this season. That game was played at Hillsborough back in August and ended 2-1. Steven Fletcher scored in the first-half for Wednesday, while a quick-fire a Jordan Hugill brace had given QPR all three points away from home.

Monk’s side are currently in the running for Premier League promotion this season. They are eighth in the table, with 39 points on board. They are only three points off fifth-placed Fulham in the table.

The club has scored a total of 37 goals in the division this season, conceding just 26 goals. That is the fourth-best defensive record in the Championship so far.

The club had made it to the fourth round of the competition last season. But they were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea after they managed to overcome the challenge of Luton Town in the third round.

What do we think?

Owls fans probably wanted their team to be drawn with a giant of the game, as that would have been a special occasion – like visiting Chelsea was last season. But the game against QPR offers them a huge chance of advancing into the next round. A decent cup run never does any harm.
