Sheffield Wednesday are closing in on the signing of Connor Wickham from Crystal Palace. The striker was reportedly having a medical with the Owl’s this afternoon and the deal is said to be edging closer.
Garry Monk’s side are said to have fought off strong competition from their Championship rivals Cardiff City and Reading who were also strongly-interested in taking the forward on loan for the remainder of the season.

What do we think?
Wickham has already played 17 times for the Owls, scoring nine goals and providing three assists. However, he’s been limited to just seven appearances in the Premier League for Crystal Palace this season and despite being deemed surplus to requirements by Roy Hodgson it appears these supporters believe he can still do a job for their club.
The Owls already have a number of strikers at the club, so it will be interesting to see where he fits in.
