This week reliable Rangers source @4ladshadadream suggested that Charlton Athletic has launched a loan bid for Greg Docherty from Rangers. Despite being previously linked with a move to Sunderland, the source suggests that those two clubs are yet to come to an agreement. However, Rangers are eager to find the player a new short-term home.
Many Rangers fans are hopeful that this news could see Charlton Athletic striker, Lyle Taylor, come the other way as part of the deal. The 29-year-old has scored seven goals in 13 games this season, averaging a goal every 129 minutes (transfermarkt.co.uk). The striker is currently out injured until January 25, but that hasn’t deterred these fans.
Give charlton docherty on loan for even 18 months in return for lyle taylor just now and maybe throw 100k there way aswell

Could we use this as a bargaining chip for lyle?

Wonder if there’s a deal to be done there to get Taylor up here a bit earlier?

any idea if this could work towards a deal for Lyle Taylor? or was that talk all rubbish?

Would you like to see Lyle Taylor make the move to Rangers?
Yes
No
One fan, however, is unconvinced. They don’t want anything to do with Taylor, and think he would be a poor investment.
Seen someone mention getting lyle taylor up “sooner”. Dont want him at all never mind sooner. Scoring record is honking and hes not exactly a prospect at his age. Its a no from me.

What do we think?
If Taylor did make the move to Ibrox in exchange for Docherty’s loan, it is unlikely that he would start. His record is much less superior to that of Alfredo Morelos, who scores every 84 minutes on average this season. At the end of the day, Rangers fans are likely more concerned with their youngster going out and playing regular football. If the loan does include a cheap backup striker, then that’s just the icing on the cake.
