After winning the Old Firm 2-1, Rangers fans will be thrilled with their league position. But when Kevin Clancy brandished Alfredo Morelos with a second yellow card in the 96th minute of the match, the win left a bitter aftertaste.
Naturally, the Scottish media took this opportunity to criticise the forward, with one outlet calling him a ‘hot head‘ in a post about his wife. Then Robert Boyle, Rangers’ Head of Digital & Marketing, posted a story about Morelos’ charity work. After the Old Firm, the player went right back to his home country to focus on this charity. Fans were so happy to see the story of Morelos’ generosity being shared. They are convinced it won’t get picked up by the Scottish media though.
Sadly a lot of the press in this country don’t like him doing anything good …..but it he does something silly then its open book season on Alfredo

It’s a real shame the treatment he gets in our country. No recognition for his unbelievable amount of goals or selfless acts like this. I would love if @RangersFC organised something to help his charity as acknowledgement for his efforts to the team.

Unfortunately the fog over the eyes of many are not interested in the good, only the stuff they can demonise. God bless Morelos and long may he continue with the good work he does at home

Scottish football hates him but the one thing that matters is that he knows we love him!

Is Morelos treated unfairly by the Scottish media?
Yes
No
One fan calls Morelos a pantomime villain. He hasn’t done anything wrong except be a good footballer. Another fan is worried this could cause the striker to ask for a move away from the harsh environment of Scottish football.
The typical pantomime villain, the main problem being those in the opposition audience can’t seem to get the fact he’s not really done anything that bad apart from score a shed load of goals and get right under their skin.

It is now getting ridiculous the lad doesn’t go out much in Glasgow due to the hassle he gets. I would not be surprised he has had enough and will want to leave us.He is now been victimised by all and sundry.

What do we think?
It is clear to see that Morelos is a genuinely nice person off the field. But his on-field persona has caused the Scottish media to paint him in an unfavourable picture. Luckily for Rangers fans, the media’s perception of the striker hasn’t stopped him from scoring goals.
