Phil Hay believes that Ryan Edmondson could be sent out on loan by Leeds in this transfer window.

Speaking in his live Q and A Hay claimed that “Edmondson is the one who could go out.” After being asked by a fan if “Any of the younger players going to get loans this window?”.

Would Edmondson going out on loan be a wise move?

Yes, he needs the game time

He also went on to say that Marcelo Bielsa does not like loaning out young players who he thinks are close to the first team – so this suggests that Edmondson is not in Bielsa’s plans.

Why would Leeds loan Edmondson out?

The 18-year-old striker scored 19 goals at reserve level last season.

However, while some of his teammates like Robbie Gotts and Pascal Struijk have been handed their chance in Bielsa’s squad, Edmondson has continually being overlooked.

Leeds only have one specialised striker in Patrick Bamford and then the versatile Tyler Roberts as forward options, but Edmondson is clearly just not a player Bielsa wants at the moment.

The 18-year-old, to develop as a player, should move to a football league club and gain some vital first-team minutes against physical defenders.

If he can impress on loan at a League One, League Two, or even a Vanarama National side, then maybe he can be involved in Bielsa’s squad next season.

His goalscoring record at reserve level is impressive, but now it is time for him to make that step up and show Bielsa that he can do it in a competitive league against professional footballers.

If he does go out on loan, then the young man should see it as an opportunity to impress and not a setback.
