With the news of Conor Gallagher returning to Chelsea, Charlton Athletic fans will naturally be feeling a bit glum about the transfer window. Luckily, however, fans might be treated to some good news in the form of Marcus Maddison.
Maddison currently plays in League One with Peterborough United and has scored nine and assisted six goals in his 21 league appearances this season. There are strong rumours linking him to Charlton Athletic, with Peterborough supposedly accepting a bid for the player earlier in the week.
When Vital Charlton asked fans what they thought about the signing, the supporters were thrilled. They think Maddison is exactly what the team needs. One fan says he is an upgrade on what they have, while another is confident the Englishman will bring goals and assists to Lee Bowyer’s side.
Any form of an upgrade is always worthwhile ??????

Incredible signing. Many championship clubs are after him but it looks like we’ll snap him up. Don’t know how he hasn’t come to the Championship sooner, quality player

Absolutely the right player for us at the moment , a good it of business if he signs the contract , to have 8 teams interested says it all. I hope he signs then maybe Toney after.

Well happy he will bring a lot to the team and he can assist and score goals and that’s what we are missing at the minute with the injuries we have in the team

Would you be happy if Marcus Maddison signed for Charlton Athletic?
Yes
No
One fan admits that, while he would have liked someone else, Maddison isn’t a bad shout either. Perhaps, in the future, there will be an opportunity to bring in even better players under the club’s new ownership. Another fan says he isn’t getting carried away until the player officially signs.
Obviously would love for him to bring someone else but he’s gd enough for me

He hasn’t signed yet. Hold your horses

What do we think?
If these rumours are to be believed, then Charlton could have a really good player on their hands. It could be the difference between the Addicks staying up in the Championship, or heading down to League One. Only time will tell before we know the club’s fate.
