It has been an unbelievably positive start to 2020 for Charlton Athletic fans. On January 2 the club announced an ownership change, with East Street Investments taking control of the club (Charlton Athletic). Matt Southall, the club’s new chairman, has already made a positive impression on fans. One of the things that has made him so popular is the contract extension he offered manager Lee Bowyer.
When Southall announced this news in the club’s recent press conference the fans were pleasantly surprised. It is the kind of news they have been hoping to hear for a while now. They think it will only have a positive impact on the club and they praise Southall’s ability to gauge what the fans want.

Another fan thinks the club will be winning the Champions League soon enough. It’s good to see nobody is getting carried away just yet.

What do we think?
If Charlton Athletic can build on this momentum, it could push them into a playoff spot this time next year and would help to make things around The Valley appear even more stable than they did under the ownership of Roland Duchâtelet.
