Some Celtic fans have been giving their opinion about Lee O’Connor’s loan move to Partick Thistle in the ongoing January transfer window.
The former Manchester United defender has now officially joined Partick Thistle – the club that the Hoops recently beat in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup by a 2-1 margin. O’Connor has been captaining the club’s Reserves team this season, as per the official Celtic website and his loan deal ends at the conclusion of the current campaign.
Celtic fans: Are you happy with O'Connor's move?
Needs a chance like Frimpong
The loan will do him good
The club’s official Twitter handle posted the confirmation of the transfer recently. And it got many Hoops fans talking and some of them seem happy about the move.

Unpopular opinion but I think he’s good enough for our first team now

Good business for both clubs. Good luck to him

This is a good move for him. Thistle are one of the bigger club in the Championship and are near the bottom, so going to be under pressure with important games coming up from now until end of the season.

Hope he comes back first team quality.

O’Connor had joined Celtic from Premier League giants United this past summer and he arrived at Parkhead on a free transfer like former Man City man Jeremie Frimpong had from United’s fierce rivals.
So far this season, O’Connor is yet to make a single first-team appearance for the Hoops. Be it in the Premiership, Europa League or the domestic cup competitions, O’Connor is yet to even make the bench for the club.
Before arriving at Parkhead though, the defender had made five appearances in all competitions for the United Under-23s side. Four of them came in the Premier League 2, with one coming in the EFL Trophy.
What do we think?
O’Connor is 19 and needs first-team football to develop properly at the club. Since he isn’t getting it at Celtic, a move to a Championship club will allow him time and games to develop. He can come back to the club next season and possibly play in the first-team too.
