Some Celtic fans have made their opinions known about the club’s potential interest in signing Hibernian winger Martin Boyle in the ongoing January transfer.

A report from the Scottish Sun said on Wednesday that the Hoops head of football operations Nick Hammond was in the stands for Hibernian’s recent 2-1 win over Hamilton in the Premiership. The report goes onto state that Boyle was the man Hammond was keeping a close eye on.

Is Martin Boyle Celtic class?

Some Hoops fans paid heed to this piece of news. A Celtic account with the name ‘Kieran Caw’ relayed the news and it got many Hoops fans talking.

The Aberdeen-born Australian Boyle is a right-winger by trade and came up with two assists in the Hibs’ 2-1 win over Hamilton. In all competitions so far this season, he has made 17 appearances. He has a tally of six goals and six assists to his name too.

He’s already having a better season than the 2018-19 campaign. He made 25 appearances in all competitions last season for the club. He contributed to only ten goals – four goals and six assists.

Boyle has previously been at lower league Scottish clubs like Dundee and Montrose.

What do we think?

Boyle would surely add some depth to the current Celtic side, considering James Forrest has made 35 appearances in all competitions with 22 of them coming from the right-wing. Celtic need to take the burden off Forrest and Boyle would do that. He will be a useful signing.
