Some Celtic fans are reacting in different ways to the club’s interest in signing Hearts’ young left-back Aaron Hickey in the ongoing January transfer window.
The Sun (via the Daily Star) report that the Hoops are interested in signing Hickey, who fancies a move back to Parkhead this month. But Crystal Palace are also in the chase for the left-back as Roy Hodgson is keen on signing the youngster. The report goes onto state that Palace are more willing than Celtic to cough up for the player.
Celtic fans: Do you want Hickey back at Parkhead?
He'll be a lovely signing!
No, we need established players!
A Hoops-related Twitter page called Celtic Bible relayed this news recently and it got Celtic fans talking. They have varying opinions about the club’s chase of the youngster.
Celtic want to sign Aaron Hickey but will not meet Hearts asking price. It is understood that Hickey is keen on a return to Celtic after leaving in 2018. [The Sun]

Buy him off Hearts and loan him back there for the rest of the season at least. Keep him playing elsewhere for a season or two. He’s not going to get into our squad yet

Think Hickey would be a good signing, the lad is showing a lot of potential..
Good going forward n decent defending..
got to remember this lad is only 17!! He’s playing every week for Hearts!
Bring him bk, develop n play, couple years we could have a serious talent on the books— Dom Shiv7 (@Shiv1888) January 20, 2020
Would be a great signing tho I’d loan him back to hearts for the next 18 months and let him develop

So we let the boy go in 2018 and then have to pay money to get him back?! To sit on the bench!?….doubtful.

Apparently the asking price was already agreed when we sold him to hearts

“Celtic want to sign…” “not meeting asking price…” When will this end? The board are at it again at our arguably most important transfer window. PL fussy to spend as per… We are financially far superior than the rangers yet we don’t use it to our advantage.

Hickey is still 17 and is a product of the Celtic youth academy – the club he left in the summer of 2018 to join Hearts on a free transfer, as per TransferMarkt.
This season, Hickey is playing regular first-team football at Hearts. He has made 25 appearances in all competitions for the club. 18 of those appearances have come in the Premiership and he also has one assist to his name so far.
Last season, he was climbing up the ranks in the first-team when he made only four appearances in the first-team for the club. Three of them came in the Premiership.
What do we think?
Hickey is 17 and presents as a player who can be the club’s first-choice in the future. But as things stand, the Hoops have two options at left-back in summer signings Boli Bolingoli and Greg Taylor. If they do decide to sign Hickey, they’d have to loan him out to play first-team football.
