Aston Villa’s move for Michy Batshuayi reportedly won’t happen this month.

According to Gregg Evans of The Athletic, Batshuayi was another player who interested Villa but again he wasn’t keen on moving to Birmingham.

Which striker would have been a better fit for Villa?

Olivier Giroud

He stated in the article that neither he or Olivier Giroud will be coming to Villa Park.

Now that the window has arrived, it has now been revealed that the striker will not be departing Stamford Bridge for Villa Park this month.

Batshuayi has fallen behind Tammy Abraham as Chelsea’s first-choice striker this season. In the Premier League, the Belgian has made just 12 appearances out of a possible 22. In those 12 appearances, the 26-year-old has only managed to score one goal and pick up one assist (per TransferMarkt).

But now it appears that the striker, who is currently valued at £19.8 million according to TransferMarkt will remain at Chelsea for this transfer window period at the least.

TIF Tactics

With Villa’s first-choice striker Wesley out injured for the rest of the season after picking up a serious knee injury at Burnley, Batshuayi could have offered a replacement for the Brazilian. Away from the Premier League, Batshuayi has been a useful rotational player for Frank Lampard’s side, making appearances in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League (per TransferMarkt), but has still managed to produce five goals and two assists.

But if the Belgian was unhappy with his playing time in the Premier League, maybe a move to Villa would have been beneficial for both parties in that respect.
