Kevin Phillips has heaped praise on Raul Jimenez in an exclusive with Football Insider.

The former Sunderland striker believes that Jimenez can put in consistent 8.5/10 performances, and that is what sets him apart from others in the Premier League.

Here’s what he had to say about Jimenez:

“Well he scores goals but again, he brings other people into the game, his work rate, he doesn’t give you a minute’s rest if you’re a defender and he’s reliable.

“He’s probably an 8, 8.5 every week, but he scores goals and ultimately you’re judged on scoring.

“Even when he has been challenged for his position he keeps it, he’s another first name on the team sheet.”

The Mexican striker has scored an impressive 20 goals in 37 appearances this season, but it is not just his goalscoring that impresses Phillips.

The 40-year-old loves the fact that Jimenez brings others into play around him, and he has an incredible work rate that stands out.

Phillips believes that Jimenez is one of the first names on the team sheet every week.

What do we think?

Since the Mexican arrived initially on loan at Molineux, he has scored 37 goals and made his move to the Black County permanent thanks to several superb displays.

It is unclear where Wolves would be without the 28-year-old, but what is certain is that he could be integral to any success that they might have in the future.

Nuno Espirito Santo loves Jimenez, and it is clear to see why with his average rating of 7.35 from WhoScored.

Wolves currently find themselves in 7th place and are into the next round of the Europa League.

They could have a fantastic season, and if they are to continue with this progress they made, then they will need Jimenez to be at the top of his game.

Jimenez made his move to Wolves permanent for £34m, and it has looked like a total bargain thanks to the continued excellence of Jimenez.
