Both Spurs and Chelsea reportedly sent scouts to look at Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara at the weekend, ahead of a possible move for the midfielder in this month’s transfer window.

According to Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato (via Football.London), the two London clubs were in attendance for Roma’s game against Juventus in order to scout the 22-year-old. The Guinean midfielder has made 16 appearances for Roma so far this season, averaging a 6.71 rating.

The young midfielder is currently valued at £18 million by transfermarkt, having joined Paulo Fonseca’s side from Napoli during the summer. The scouts may not have been too impressed with Diawara however, with the 22-year-old receiving a 6.41 rating from whoscored for his performance in the 2-1 loss.

TIF Tactics:

Spurs are perhaps in need of a central midfielder following the injury suffered by Moussa Sissoko earlier this month, but with Diawara having only joined Roma last summer, you suspect that he may be a target for the long-term rather than for this month. The Guinean international can play as a defensive midfielder, which is arguably a position Spurs need to strengthen, especially if Victor Wanyama does leave the North London club during this month’s window.

Mourinho will reportedly face competition from his old club Chelsea is Spurs do make an approach for the midfielder but a move for the Serie A star in January looks unlikely.
