Spurs fans were disappointed with Ryan Sessegnon’s performance against Middlesbrough on Sunday, with many fans feeling he looks a shadow of the player who was so dominant at Fulham.
Fans were treated to a video from COYS.com of Sessegnon beating his man and putting in a dangerous cross during his time with Fulham, something Spurs fans feel they are yet to see from the youngster. The 19-year-old has been enjoying a run in the Spurs side of late, playing at both left-wing and left wing-back after the suspension of Heung Min-Son and injury to first-choice left-back Ben Davies.
Sessegnon joined Spurs from Fulham in the summer for around £25 million but found game time hard to come by under previous manager Mauricio Pochettino, with an injury suffered on international duty keeping him out of the side earlier in the season. The England u’21 international scored on his first start under Mourinho against Bayern Munich but has struggled ever since.

He looks afraid to lose the ball

I think he’s been told not to. He doesn’t even shape to take a man on. Always look back inside

All he needs is confidence. He’s got great talent but he’s so afraid to make mistakes.

Don’t think I’ve seen him run at a full back yet

Playing within himself. 100% agree. Done nothing wrong and has been tidy but looks timid atm.

These Spurs fans clearly feel that Sessegnon is lacking some confidence and want to see the 19-year-old back to his best for Spurs.
What do we think?
Sessegnon showed in his PFA award-winning season with Fulham that he is an immense talent and should perhaps be trusted further up the pitch under Mourinho. With him currently playing left-wing back, the £31.5 million rated man does look scared of losing possession and is, therefore, less willing to try some of the things that made him so successful in the Championship.
