Spurs fans were surprised to hear that the club are reportedly looking at Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence as a potential future signing.
According to the Evening Standard (via Hotspur Related), Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the 19-year-old, having studied his progress since his release from Fulham. The right-back has recently broken into the first-team in Jonathan Woodgate’s side and impressed in the FA Cup third-round tie against Spurs earlier this month.
Spence has now made six appearances for the Championship side and scored his first goal for the club in the 1-0 win over Huddersfield on Boxing Day. The 19-year-old Englishman can also play further forward as a right-midfielder and could well provide back-up to current first-choice Serge Aurier in the future, should Mourinho convince him to make the move to North London.
Would Spence be a good signing for Spurs?

These Spurs fans seem unsure about the signing of Spence, but a few fans were impressed with his performance in the FA Cup tie.
What do we think?
Spurs are clearly in the market for a young right-back and if they miss out on Max Aarons, then perhaps Spence could be an excellent back-up option. Mourinho will no doubt be keeping an eye on the youngster when Spurs and Middlesbrough meet again in the replay next Tuesday.
