Spurs fans were delighted to hear Jose Mourinho confirm that the club will sign Giovani Lo Celso in a press conference following the 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday.
The Portuguese manager spoke to the press after another impressive performance from the Argentinian midfielder, saying: “He has made it so we are going to execute the option” per Standard Sport (via Ricky Sacks). The on-loan Real Betis man has established himself as a regular in Mourinho’s side in the past few weeks and it now seems as if the club will exercise their option to sign the 23-year-old permanently before Friday’s deadline.
The former PSG midfielder had struggled to nail down a spot in the starting eleven under previous manager Mauricio Pochettino, with a hip injury suffered on international duty seriously hampering his progress. However, he has shown in recent performances, most notably against Norwich, that he can be a very effective player for Mourinho, so it is no surprise to see the North London club bringing him in on a permanent deal.
Is Lo Celso the perfect replacement for Eriksen?

These Spurs fans are clearly delighted with the news that Lo Celso is set to sign permanently.
What do we think?
Lo Celso has really impressed in recent weeks and looks capable of stepping up as the replacement for Christian Eriksen, with the Danish international set to complete his move to Inter in the coming days.
