Some Spurs fans were delighted to hear that the club are reportedly lining up a move for Internazionale forward Gabriel Barbosa in the January window.
According to ESPN (via Ricky Sacks), Spurs have shown an interest in the Brazilian, which may well be acted upon following the injury to Harry Kane in the loss against Southampton on New Year’s Day. Once regarded as one of the brightest young talents in football, Barbosa’s career has slightly come unstuck after disappointing spells at Benfica and Inter.
However, a loan spell to Club World Cup runners up Flamengo has once again increased interest in the 23-year-old striker, after he recorded 34 goals and 11 assists in 43 games for the Brazilian side. Currently valued at £20.7 million, Gabigol could well prove to be a bargain if he can score anywhere near that amount in the Premier League.

Libertadores top striker and Brazil leagues top striker at age 23. He is a good poacher. Not on Kanes level but he has tons of potential.

These Spurs fans would clearly welcome a move for Barbosa in the January window and will be hoping that he can continue his recent form with Flamengo in the Premier League.
What do we think?
Barbosa’s goal record with Flamego shows he is more than capable of being a top striker, but he never really cut it at Benfica or Inter, so it would certainly be a risky signing for Mourinho. However, he is still young and a full Brazilian international, so he could be the man to step up in Harry Kane’s absence.
