Many Spurs fans were delighted to hear that the club have reportedly made an offer for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.
According to French news outlet L’Equipe, as quoted by GFFN, the North London club are one of six teams to make offers for the Frenchman. Spurs had been regularly linked with the 20-year-old before January, but look to face stiff competition from various sides around Europe in their hopes to bring the youngster to North London this month.
Since joining Lille from PSG’s academy side in 2017, Soumare has established himself in the first-team, making 62 appearances in all competitions. The young midfielder also recently made his France u’21s debut and has impressed in the Champions League for Christophe Galtier’s side; averaging a 6.93 rating despite the French side finishing bottom of their group.

One Spurs fan even claimed that the club will need Joao Sacramento to pull off a masterclass, which relates to his possible links to his former club and Soumare’s current club Lille.

These Spurs fans are clearly keen on signing Soumare and will be hoping that the club can see off interest from other clubs to sign the 20-year-old.
What do we think?
Soumare is currently valued at £19.8 million by transfermarkt but you suspect that the reported interest in the midfielder may well drive his price up. Spurs paid a club-record fee for fellow French midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the summer so it would perhaps be a surprise to see Soumare make the move to North London so soon after that but at 20-years-old, the Lille midfielder could well be in the Spurs side for some time to come.
