Spurs fans were devastated to see that Harry Kane left St Mary’s on crutches following the loss against Southampton on New Year’s Day.

According to a Football correspondent from the Evening Standard, Dan Kilpatrick, the England striker was seen leaving on crutches following a suspected hamstring injury, which forced him off in the second half. It comes as a big blow for Jose Mourinho’s side, with Spurs arguably without any senior back-up to Kane, which may well force the Portuguese manager’s hand in the transfer market.

A product of the academy at Spurs, Kane has now scored 181 goals in 278 appearances for the North London club and has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world with his performances for club and country. The 26-year-old has been in excellent form for Spurs so far this season; averaging a 7.42 rating in all competitions, so his injury will be a massive loss for Mourinho.

These Spurs fans are clearly frustrated with Kane’s injury, with some writing off any chances of a top-four finish.

What do we think?

It will be interesting to see if Kane’s injury causes Mourinho to bring in a striker in the January window, although last season’s run to the Champions League final showed that Spurs can win without their talismanic striker. Kane played 90 minutes in all of the games over the festive period, so it is perhaps no surprise that it resulted in injury and fans will be hoping that he won’t be out for too long.
