Spurs fans were delighted to see some footage of Benfica midfielder Gedson Fernandes, with the 21-year-old expected to join the North London club in this month’s window.
Fernandes originally looked set to join West Ham, but it now seems as if he will join up with Jose Mourinho’s side on an 18-month loan deal, potentially with the option to buy the youngster in the future. The Benfica midfielder has made just four starts for the Liga NOS side so far this season, so it is no surprise to see him being offered out on loan, especially considering their impressive start to the season; which has seen them win 15 of their opening 16 games in the league.
Spurs recently lost Moussa Sissoko through injury and with the Frenchman expected to be out until April, it makes sense for Mourinho to bring in a midfielder during the January transfer window.
Spurs fans are certainly getting excited about the potential loan signing of Fernandes after LastWordonSpurs posted a video of his goal against Bayern Munich in 2018.

First Spurs fans mugging off Piatek, now mugging off Gedson Fernandes. We need players desperately. If Jose likes them, back them. We all know January is difficult. What do people expect? 70 million players aren’t happening. Why so surprised?

About 400 minutes of action for Benfica’s senior side. Low risk, potentially high reward move. Unfortunately I doubt much of an impact this season.
