Spurs fans were devastated to learn that former target Paulo Dybala is expected to sign a new contract with Juventus.
According to Juventus correspondent Romeo Agresti on Twitter (via Daily Hotspur), the Argentine is set to sign a new deal with the Serie A side. Spurs were heavily linked with the former Palermo man over the summer and ultimately missed out on his signing after refusing to pay for his image rights.
Since then, Dybala has been in fantastic form for Maurizio Sarri’s side; contributing nine goals and three assists in all competitions for the Old Lady, so it is no surprise to see him close to a new contract with the club. The North London club will perhaps be regretting failing to sign the 26-year-old forward, especially with Harry Kane now expected to be out until April with a hamstring injury.
Should Spurs have paid the extra fee for Dybala?

No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the update on Dybala can be seen in the tweets below.
He’s been on fire under Sarri. This was always going to be the outcome after the summer failure to get the deal done one way or another.

What could have been if Levy decided an extra £10-15m to cover image rights was worth paying for a world-class forward!
He’d have given us creativity we’ve missed. And wouldn’t be without a recognised striker now
Now we’ll get a January bargain basement deal – at best— #ENICout (@MattyFrench82) January 10, 2020

He’s made it pretty clear he sees his future at Juve and that he wasn’t interested in the offers for him in the summer. Good luck to him!

These Spurs fans are clearly frustrated that the club failed to bring Dybala in during the summer window, especially with their current lack of options in attack.
What do we think?
Spurs are paying the price for failing to bring in Dybala, with the Argentinian international having shown his class for Juventus this season; averaging a 7.20 rating in all competitions. At least with him seemingly set to sign a new deal, Spurs fans can give up any possibility of bringing him in during this month’s transfer window.
