Spurs fans were devastated to hear that reported transfer target Merih Demiral has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury.
According to Mail Sport (via TranSPURS), the Juventus man will miss a significant period through injury, meaning Spurs will have to focus their efforts elsewhere. Spurs had been linked with the 21-year-old, alongside Premier League clubs such as Manchester City, Arsenal and Leicester but a move for the Turkish defender now looks off the table.
Demiral has struggled for game time for Maurizio Sarri’s side so far this season, making just seven appearances for the club but impressed in his few performances; averaging an impressive 7.28 rating. The Turkish international had been targeted by Spurs to help improve their struggling defence, with Jose Mourinho’s side having kept just two clean sheets in the league all season.
Would Demiral have been a good signing for Spurs?

Ronaldo draining him of his youth and exuberance in that pic there ?
On a serious note, awfully unlucky! We should keep tabs on him still though. Very talented and may be even cheaper in the summer now.

Some of these Spurs fans are clearly disappointed with the update on Demiral which seems to rule out any possibility of his signing.
What do we think?
Demiral has impressed in his few performances for Juventus this season and was important in Turkey’s impressive European qualifying campaign so he could still be a great signing in the future for Spurs.
