Spurs fans were less than impressed to hear that the club’s asking price for Victor Wanyama is putting off interested clubs.
According to Standard Sport (via Daily Hotspur), the North London club are holding out for £9 million for the former Celtic man, which combined with the midfielder’s £62k-a-week wages, is preventing several clubs from acting on their interest. The Kenyan international has barely featured for Spurs so far this season; making just three substitute appearances, so it is no surprise to see him being linked with a move away.
Wanyama was reportedly very close to a move to Club Brugge over the summer but Spurs were left stuck with the 28-year-old after that move fell through and it now seems as if they may have to lower their asking price if they are to get him off their books this month.
Do you think Wanyama will leave Spurs this month?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the club’s struggles in selling Wanyama can be seen in the tweets below.
Sorry what? £9m for a bloke who can barely run

Give 1m and I’ll drop him at your ground

Just let him go for 3-3.5m. Then the wages won’t be a problem.

Spurs want to pay 11m for a good striker in la liga with a good goalscoring record but want to sell wanyama,a finished player due to injuries, for 9
— COYSSSS (@WeAreBillNich) January 24, 2020
These Spurs fans clearly feel that the club’s asking price for Wanyama is way too high and want to see him leave the North London side this month.
What do we think?
Considering Wanyama’s injury issues and lack of minutes this season it is a surprise that Spurs are demanding as much as £9 million for the midfielder. Hopefully, the Kenyan can agree on a move away and get back to playing regular football.
