Spurs fans were left laughing after the latest news on Spurs’ campaign, with Jose Mourinho reportedly set to earn £2 million if Spurs should secure Champions League qualification.
According to the Daily Mail (via Hotspur Related), Mourinho will receive a hefty bonus should Spurs finish in the top-four, or win the Champions League. The North London club currently sit eighth in the Premier League, following a poor start to the new year and face German side RB Leipzig in the first knockout round of the Champions League next month.
Many Spurs fans seem to have already written off the club’s chances of finishing in the top-four spots, with the Portuguese manager yet to have had the desired effect since being appointed in November of last year.

Good luck to him, he’ll need it

Won’t happen. Call this season a write off and get in the players we need and get rid of the dead wood and next season go for it

2m saved. Good business.

One fan even joked it was another shrewd move by Daniel Levy, with them believing that he’ll end up saving the £2 million. He is known for having a very frugal business plan, so the fact that he could possibly save £2 million if Spurs miss out on the Champions League was something this fan played on.
Another shrewd move by Levy. Saving £2m there

So no bonus for him this year then

He would deserve every penny if we qualify. It would be a master stroke

These Spurs fans clearly aren’t confident of finishing in the top-four spots and feel that Levy will be saving himself £2 million.
What do we think?
Although they are currently in eighth, Spurs remain just nine points off fourth-placed Chelsea, so if they can find some form and pick up some wins, then there is no reason why they can’t finish in the top-four this season.
