Spurs fans were full of praise for defender Serge Aurier’s performance in the 0-0 draw against Watford on Saturday.
The Ivory Coast international earned a 7.78 rating for his display against Nigel Pearson’s side, which was enough to see him named man-of-the-match by whoscored. The 27-year-old has been one of Spurs’ most consistent players so far this season; averaging a 7.30 rating for the North London club in all competitions.
Aurier provided an attacking outlet for Spurs throughout the match, very nearly providing an assist for Erik Lamela in the dying moments of the game, but also played his part defensively, helping Jose Mourinho’s side to their first clean sheet since a 5-0 win over Burnley in early December.

Aurier with another very good game. Still gets the usual flak. Up against a real handful but acquitted himself well. #THFC #COYS

Positives… first away clean sheet in a year… Aurier was quality…
Negatives… apart from the scramble at the end with no focal point up top we’re not scoring in a month of Sunday’s with Jose’s style of play…#COYS #THFC #TTID

Serge Aurier is quietly going about his business and implementing himself as one of our most consistent performers this season but some Spurs fans won’t mention it because he got a red card in 2017.

Our results haven’t been great but our performances are slowly getting better. Aurier looking good, Lo Celso settling and now Tanganga has burst onto the scene. Think he’ll learn a lot from today and ended the game well. Couple more signings and Jose’s reign truly begins. #COYS

If you don’t think Aurier has been our most improved player as the season has gone on then you’re blind

These Spurs fans clearly enjoyed Aurier’s performance and will be hoping that he continues to perform under Mourinho.
What do we think?
Aurier can be erratic and rash at times but he has also been very impressive at times so far this season; having contributed a goal and five assists in all competitions for Spurs. Perhaps he will start to win over more fans if he continues to produce displays similar to the one against Watford at the weekend.
