Spurs fans were devastated to hear that signing Leicester City striker Islam Slimani has become a priority for the club before Friday’s deadline.

According to France Football (via Daily Hotspur), the North London club are prioritising a deal for the Algerian striker, who has spent the first half of the season on loan at AS Monaco. The 31-year-old originally joined Leicester from Sporting Lisbon in 2016 but struggled to make much of an impact in the Premier League; scoring 13 goals in 46 appearances for the Foxes.

Spurs are in need of a striker following the injury to Harry Kane earlier this month but have left it late to try and secure a replacement and it now seems as if signing Slimani is their best hope of bringing in a striker. The Algerian international is reportedly keen on cutting his loan with Monaco short, despite contributing seven goals and seven assists in just 13 games in Ligue 1.

These Spurs fans are clearly not keen on signing Slimani ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

What do we think?

Although Spurs fans have their doubts, Slimani’s impressive start to the season with Monaco suggests that he wouldn’t be the worst signing but it would be a surprise to see Leicester let him join a potential top-four rival.
