Spurs could yet be reunited with former winger man Gareth Bale during this month’s transfer window, with the possibility of taking him on loan for the rest of the season.

According to the Independent (Live blog, 08:29, 22/01/2020), Bale would be open to moving back to north London – although any deal seeing him return to Spurs would be incredibly difficult to finance.

The Welsh international has seen a rift develop between himself and the fans at the club, with many turning their back on him after he revealed a banner saying: “Wales. Golf. Real Madrid. In that order.” following Wales’ qualification for Euro 2020 and would reportedly be open to rejoining Spurs this season.

So far this season, Bale has made just 17 appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side; contributing two goals and two assists in La Liga. He has seen his game time suffer as a result of both injuries and the likes of Eden Hazard, Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior all establishing themselves as first-team regulars.

It is no surprise to see him being linked with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side, in the hope that he could rediscover some of the form he showed in his last spell with the North London club.

The Welshman contributed 56 goals and 58 assists in his time with Spurs before making the world-record move to Real Madrid back in 2013.

Jose Mourinho’s side is in desperate need of a striker following the injury to Harry Kane and although it wouldn’t be his natural position, Bale has performed best when played upfront so far this season; averaging an impressive 8.05 rating in the four games he has played there. If Spurs can secure the 30-year-old on loan, then it would surely be one of the signings of the window.
