Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to keep hold of 22-year-old defender Juan Foyth after the club received an approach from Galatasaray for the Argentinian.

According to Turkish newspaper Yeni Asir (via Sport Witness), Galatasaray are interested in signing the youngster this month, following a long-term injury to fellow centre-back Christian Luyindama.

However, the report suggests that Mourinho is unwilling to see the Argentinian international leave during the January transfer window, despite him making just seven appearances so far this season.

Spurs signed Foyth from Estudiantes in 2017 but he has never really established himself as a regular at the North London club; having made just 32 appearances in nearly three years in England.

In his few appearances this season, the 22-year-old has struggled to impress; averaging a disappointing 6.66 rating.

TiF Tactics:

Although it makes sense for Mourinho not to sell Foyth, perhaps a loan move may well be the best fit for the 22-year-old, so he can get some regular first-team football under his belt.

Despite his lack of appearances for Spurs, Foyth is a regular for Lionel Scaloni’s Argentina side; having featured 11 times since making his debut in November 2018.

This no doubt makes him an attractive proposition for a lot of European sides, so Mourinho will not want to lose the £13.5 million rated man during this month’s transfer window.

However, unless Foyth begins to feature more regularly under the Portuguese manager, then you imagine his career would just stagnate, so perhaps a move to Galatasaray would be the best option for the young defender.
