In a Q and A session with fans on Tuesday evening, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold confirmed that AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek is “the one Tottenham want.”

The North London club have been linked with a range of strikers throughout the transfer window as they look to find a replacement for the injured Harry Kane, after he was ruled out until April with a hamstring injury. When asked about the possibility of Spurs signing the Polish striker before Friday’s deadline, Gold confirmed that he is indeed their top target per Football.London Q&A (15:47).

He said:

“Piatek is the one Tottenham want and they will do everything they can to have him arriving in north London before Friday.

“He’s also only 24-years-old and fits Spurs’ profile as one who can develop and be worth more if he adapts quickly to the Premier League. The club have older options in case Milan will not come to an agreement, but the other names being thrown about are older, more short-term fixes compared to Piatek.”

The 24-year-old Milan striker has been in poor form so far this season, contributing just four goals in 18 appearances in Serie A, averaging a disappointing 6.50 rating in the process. However, with Spurs having scored just twice in the league since Kane’s injury at the start of January, they look desperate to bring in a front man.

TIF Tactics:

Piatek is currently valued at £28.8 million by transfermarkt and it seems as if the Rossoneri are holding out for a fee similar to that this month, although reports have suggested that the North London club are more interested in a loan deal. The Polish international has shown he can score goals, evidenced by his excellent spell at Genoa where he hit 19 goals in just 21 appearances so if he can find that sort of form with Spurs he would surely prove to be a good signing.

Jose Mourinho’s side are rapidly running out of time to bring in a striker before Friday’s deadline and after it was confirmed that Piatek is their top target, it would not be a surprise to see him brought in at the last minute.
