Spurs fans were delighted to hear that Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on signing former Liverpool and current Juventus midfielder Emre Can this month.

According to Italian news outlet TuttoJuve (via TranSPURS), Mourinho is keen to sign the 26-year-old and the North London club are preparing a €30 million (£25.3 million) offer. The midfielder has made just eight appearances in Serie A this season; averaging a disappointing 6.33 rating, so could well be set for a move back to the Premier League.

Can left Liverpool for Juventus on a free transfer in 2018 but has struggled to establish himself as a regular for the Turin side; making just 45 appearances in his two seasons at the club. Spurs are perhaps in need of a more defensive-minded midfielder, with Moussa Sissoko out until April through injury and Victor Wanyama looking likely to depart.

Reaction from Spurs fans to Mourinho’s reported interest in the German international can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans would clearly love to sign Can this month and will be hoping that Levy can negotiate a deal with Juventus before Friday’s deadline.

What do we think?

Although he hasn’t really performed with Juventus, Can has a lot of Premier League experience from his time with Liverpool and would provide Mourinho with a strong defensive-minded midfielder who also contributes goals.
