Spurs fans were less than happy with Lucas Moura after his performance in Spurs’ 0-0 draw with Watford on Saturday.
The Brazilian struggled throughout the game against Nigel Pearson’s side; earning a disappointing 6.66 rating from whoscored. The former PSG man spent much of the game playing as a striker, with Spurs lacking any real striking options after the long-term injury suffered by Harry Kane earlier this month.
Moura has struggled in a lot of games so far this season for Spurs; averaging a 6.78 rating, but he lasted the full 90 minutes at Vicarage Road despite another poor display. Since signing for Spurs in 2018, the Brazilian has scored just 22 times in 88 games, with many Lilywhites fans seemingly of the opinion that he is far from good enough to be starting.
Is Moura good enough to start for Spurs?

Impact player and nothing more

Shouldn’t be starting but that’s not his fault. Never complained about being a sub and has always done what’s best for the club without throwing a strop, always claps the fans at away games. Not amazing but we still owe him everything for Amsterdam. Double decent squad player

Inconsistent

One good game out of five. Not good enough. Just a squad player

Headless chicken. He has undoubted skill but he isn’t consistent. He works hard off the ball but he keeps running into opposing players. Frustrating player

Lazy with making runs. Good at tackling his second touch.

Too inconsistent. No hold up to his game and loses the ball far too much.
A super sub at best imo. Lamela >

These Spurs fans clearly don’t rate Moura, with many suggesting that he is a squad player at best after he produced another disappointing display against Watford.
What do we think?
Moura will always be remembered by Spurs fans for his hat-trick against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final last season, but other than that, his goal record is quite poor. Spurs arguably need to sign an out-and-out striker to replace Kane this window, rather than hoping that their £36 million rated man can be at his best despite being played out of position.
