Spurs fans were treated to a video of Japhet Tanganga making a bursting run during the North London club’s 2-1 win over Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third-round replay.
The video was posted on Spurs’ official Twitter page and shows the 20-year-old embarking on a brilliant run down the right-hand side before putting in a cross which was nearly converted by Heung-Min Son. The defender recently made his Premier League debut in the 1-0 loss against Liverpool; earning an impressive 7.38 rating from WhoScored and he followed that up with another strong display in the FA Cup win.
Tanganga was played at right-back during the win against Jonathan Woodagate’s Championship side and once again earned rave reviews; with Football.London awarding the defender an 8/10 for his performance. The youngster is a product of the youth academy at Spurs and his only previous appearance for the senior side this season came in the disappointing Carabao Cup defeat against Colchester United under Mauricio Pochettino.
Should Tanganga start ahead of Aurier on Saturday?

This was so fantastic to see. No one could believe that he was making that run, especially our forwards. The balance to stay on his feet. That cross was magnificent, too.

These Spurs fans were clearly delighted with the footage of Tanganga and will be hoping to see the 20-year-old continue to make an impression under Mourinho.
What do we think?
Tanganga has looked excellent in the past two games and it will be interesting to see whether his performance at right-back earns him a start against Watford on Saturday ahead of Serge Aurier.
