Spurs fans were treated to some footage from Gedson Fernandes’ first training session with the North London club on Twitter this week.
The midfielder, who joined on an 18-month loan from Benfica earlier this week, is shown in a brief clip training with the rest of the Spurs squad (via Hotspur Related). The 21-year-old midfielder joins Jose Mourinho’s side with an option to buy, so he will surely want to impress the staff and fans with his performances during his loan spell.
Fernandes had struggled for game time so far this season with Benfica; making just nine appearances in all competitions, which is perhaps unsurprising when you consider their excellent start to the league season. With Spurs currently struggling with injuries in midfield; with both Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele ruled out, perhaps Spurs fans will get to see their new loan signing in action against Watford on Saturday.
Will Fernandes make an appearance against Watford on Saturday?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the video of Fernandes can be seen in the tweets below.
He’s got the ideal build for a modern footballer – wiry, agile. Should have good stamina and speed, bit of range on those legs. Looks a proper athlete.

From this footage I have concluded he is going to be a better player than @Cristiano #COYS

Strange how we’ve allowed that to be released. Every top club in the world will want him now :/

These Spurs fans clearly enjoyed the footage of Fernandes and will no doubt be hoping to see him make his debut for the club in the near future.
What do we think?
Fernandes has only just joined Spurs so it would be a surprise to see Mourinho throw him straight into the action against Watford on Saturday, but his lack of options in midfield currently could see him make an appearance sooner than many would expect.
