Spurs fans have been discussing the loan move for Cameron Carter-Vickers after he joined Championship side Luton Town this week.
Alasdair Gold shared his thoughts on the move on Twitter, arguing that the youngster still has time to develop and perhaps make it in the Spurs side. The 22-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Stoke City; making 15 appearances in all competitions but last featured in a 2-1 defeat to Blackburn at the end of November.
The youngster now has a fresh opportunity to impress at Luton, who, like Stoke, are battling to stay in the Championship, so will be glad to have someone of Carter-Vicker’s ability join. In his post on Twitter, Gold suggested that Spurs may well be attempting to increase the defender’s value through a loan spell, but if he impresses then perhaps he could play a part in Jose Mourinho’s squad next season.
Will Carter-Vickers make it at Spurs?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to Gold’s tweet on Carter-Vickers can be seen in the tweets below.
Still think he can become a great CB. Remember watching him play at one of the youth levels v Chelsea and the commentator got bored of saying his name cos he won every header, tackle & block “there’s Cameron again” “guess who’s won header” “he’s everywhere”

There was a time when I thought CCV would become what JT appears to have become. I really thought he’d progress into snr team.

One fan even suggested that Spurs could end up with another Ledley King, who featured in a whopping 317 games for the Lilywhites, as well as captaining them.
Maybe he’s out there improving at every club. We could end up with another Ledley, good defenders mature into great defenders. Experience is evrything. Perhaps a defensive version of Kane – learning his trade out on loan

Questionable how much value he will ever really have. None of the teams who loan him ever seem to want to buy or keep

Never hurt Kane

Sure is, good luck, Cameron.

These Spurs fans clearly feel that Carter-Vickers could still make it at the club, with several comparing him to Harry Kane, who spent several seasons out on loan before establishing himself as a regular in the Spurs side.
What do we think?
Carter-Vickers looks to have fallen further behind in the pecking order at Spurs following the emergence of Japhet Tanganga, but with Jan Vertonghen potentially leaving in the summer, perhaps a successful loan spell will be enough to see him establish himself in the first-team next season.
The central defender hasn’t featured for Spurs since 2017.
