Spurs fans were less than impressed to hear that the club are reportedly interested in signing Leicester City striker Islam Slimani on loan this month.

According to the Telegraph (via Daily Hotspur), the Foxes are braced for interest from Spurs for the Algerian striker; who is currently on loan with AS Monaco. Spurs are in the market for a striker after first-choice Harry Kane was ruled out until April with a hamstring tear.

Slimani has impressed so far this season; with seven goals and seven assists in just 13 games in Ligue 1, but a poor record with Leciester of just 13 goals in 47 appearances has left many Spurs fans doubtful of whether he can cut it in the Premier League. The 31-year-old became Leicester’s record signing back in 2016 but was sent out on loan this season by Brendan Rodgers.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Slimani can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans are clearly not interested in signing Slimani, despite his excellent start to the season with AS Monaco.

What do we think?

If Spurs are not willing to sign a striker permanently, then they could do a lot worse than bringing in Slimani on loan. The 31-year-old has averaged an impressive 7.22 rating so far this season and would certainly add a threat to Spurs’ attack.
