Many Spurs fans were shocked to hear that after Christian Eriksen’s departure, Erik Lamela remains the only player at the club from the seven players brought in during the summer of 2013.

Spurs heavily reinvested in players ahead of the then world-record sale of Gareth Bale to Real Madrid and brought in Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Vlad Chiriches, Nacer Chadli, and Etienne Capoue during the summer transfer window. However, with Eriksen departing for Inter during this month’s transfer window, it leaves just Lamela left at the club, something which some fans are not too happy about.

The Argentinian winger has endured an injury-hit spell at the club, recently missing 12 games through a hamstring injury. In 208 appearances for the North London club, Lamela has contributed just 33 goals and 45 assists and after Hotspur Related revealed he was the last of the seven players signed in summer 2013, it seems as if many Spurs fans are ready to see him leave too.

Reaction from Spurs fans to the news on Lamela can be seen in the tweets below.

One fan even stated that Daniel Levy will get rid of Erik Lamela due to his injuries, and he could prove to be right as the Argentine has missed a whopping 97 games since joining Tottenham, including 12 this season. And, with Steven Bergwijn securing his move to North London recently, Levy has even more of a reason to potentially get rid of the South American, with more back-up now available out wide.

Some Spurs fans clearly feel that Lamela’s time at the club is running out and perhaps would like to see him leave before Friday’s deadline, whereas one or two were more positive towards him.

What do we think?

Lamela’s form this season hasn’t been awful and he impressed in his performances in the Champions League; averaging a 7.11 rating. However, with the recent signings of Steven Bergwijn and Giovani Lo Celso, perhaps the £19.8 million rated man should be moved on.
