BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks has this week revealed that he believes that Wolves’ Raul Jimenez would be the ideal signing for Spurs in this month’s transfer window.

When naming his team of the week for BBC Sport, Crooks described the Mexican forward; who scored twice in Wolves’ comeback victory over Southampton at the weekend. He said: “The Mexico striker is in great form. If he was four years younger he would be perfect for Spurs, especially with Harry Kane’s long-term injury, but he would also be worth twice the price and not the £30m Wolves paid for him. What a snip.”

Wolves signed Jimenez from Benfica for a club-record fee last year after an impressive loan spell; with the 28-year-old having now scored 36 goals in his first 80 appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side. His form this season has also been impressive; with the Mexico international averaging a 7.28 rating across all competitions.

Although Crooks suggests that he would be perfect if he was four years younger, he is still only 28 and could prove to be the ideal replacement for Harry Kane this month. The England striker has been ruled out until April after suffering a hamstring tear, leaving Spurs with just 17-year-old Troy Parrott as the only out-and-out striker in the squad and their Champions League qualification odds at www.apuestas24.mx on the slide.

Jimenez is currently valued at £37.8 million by transfermarkt so it would be an expensive transfer for Spurs if they did opt to approach Wolves for the Mexican striker during this month’s transfer window. However, with Wolves currently pushing for a top-four spot themselves, they would surely demand an inflated fee for the 28-year-old should Mourinho be interested in the former Benfica man.
