Most of the talk around Tottenham Hotspur this month has been about whether or not they are going to bring in a striker to replace the injured Harry Kane. One of the names that has been heavily linked with a move to North London is the former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud who now plays his football for Chelsea.

However, the club’s hopes of signing him as a short-term replacement for Kane were dashed when it was reported earlier today that he would be staying at Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season.

How did the fans react to it?

Would you have liked to seen Giroud sign for Spurs?

What do we think?

Olivier Giroud has played 225 times in the Premier League and during that time he’s scored 78 goals and provided 32 assists. Given his experience of English football and what it takes to be relatively successful in this league, he would have been a very good back-up option but a deal wasn’t to be.

Perhaps Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy are looking further into the future and believe a longer-term solution to their shortage of strikers could be available in the summer. Giroud has played for two of Spurs’ biggest rivals and whilst we’re sure he would have been welcomed with open arms had he signed – he likely wasn’t at the top of many people’s wish lists.
